Skin care tips against aging prematurely

 

 

Regular anti-aging skin care is needed and should be encouraged to promote younger looking skin and most importantly because your skin is a living organ.

 

Like I said in an earlier post, your diet,  lifestyle and in addition, your decision affects your skin aging process, therefore making unhealthy choices will increase the likelihood of premature aging... If found wanting, ensure that you make the necessary adjustment for a more beautiful you.

 

I have outlined some dos and don'ts below to help you with for a start

 

1. Limit your exposure to the sun: Be aware that the harmful rays of the sun penetrates deep into your skin's tissues and contributes to wrinkles, dry skin and sunburn. The UV rays also causes skin cancer. If you intend being out in the sun for long, Use sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher and remember to continuously reapply your sunscreen  if you are outside in the sun for longer period of time. Apply sunscreen even on cloudy days because clouds do not protect you from the sun's rays. Again, don't forget to protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses.Trust me, continually squinting and frowning under bright sunlight will exacerbate wrinkles and  crow's feet around your eyes and hoods forming over them.

 

2.Avoid smoking: Cigarette smoke is not only damaging to your health but to your skin as well. Exposure to cigarette smoke will increase the chances of developing skin wrinkles and dry skin and this is because the smoke depletes your body of vitamin C which is an active ingredient for keeping your skin beautiful and moist.

 

3.Stay hydrated: I cannot over-emphasize  the importance of drinking water. It keeps your skin well-hydrated and youthful. It is recommended to take 8 glasses of water per day.

 

4.Eat healthy, brightly coloured fruits and leafy greens: They provide your body with vitamins and antioxidants that fight the breakdown of collagen and elastin in your skin. By the way, elastin and collagen help to keep and maintain firm and youthful skin.

 

5.Think AHAs based anti-aging skin care products and moisturizers: Alpha hydroxyl acids(AHAs) are natural fruit acids found in fruit, sugarcane and milk. As skin ages, natural exfoliation becomes more difficult and dead skin cells build up. AHAs allow the top layer of dead skin cells to be exfoliated more easily and help to unblock and cleanse pores. AHAs also loosen inter-cellular fluids which helps to smooth away fine lines, wrinkles and improve skin texture and tone. A quality anti-wrinkle eye-cream for instance will reduce wrinkles , smooth the skin around the eyes and restore elasticity.

 

6.Invest in anti-aging moisturizer: A terrific moisturizer will leave your skin soft and supple plus reduce the formation of wrinkles. And last but not the least...

 

7.Trust God: In every way and in everything, trust God.

What You Must Know About Anti-Aging

The best anti-aging beauty secret is your attitude towards aging. A positive attitude will help you cope with stress while worrying about growing older or looking older is sure to make you age faster.

Real age defying beauty can be seen in celebrities like Onyeka Onwenu 52, Joke Silva 52, Ngozi Nwosu 50, Liz benson 47, Bukky Wright 46, Fathia Balogun 44 and Kate Henshaw 42 and its not because they have the money to pamper their skins, they have positive attitude to life. so you see, that is why your attitude towards aging plays a big role in your aging process. Don't fret if you see a new line or a wrinkle appear because like I said earlier, that will only make you age quickly. Studies have shown that being active, emotionally calm and organized can improve longevity and its no surprise that optimistic people live longer, healthier lives than pessimists.  I personally believe that age is just a number. You are as young or as old as you feel.

 

In addition, If you want to look younger and be more attractive for many years to come, avoid bad diet and unhealthy lifestyle. *winks*

Meet Charity- The Cool, Calm, Collected and Charming Bride

 

Hello glowing beauties, you see, words fail me to describe the personality of this super beauty but suffice it to say that she is one in a million. Working with her was not just fun but an incredibly terrific experience for me...even her very name exudes warmth and love!

 

Charity wanted a subtle makeover for some reasons and I will spare you that. Plus she didn't want any false lash, you get it? So I worked on her and my students (Ihuoma, Sewa, Jennifer and Bimbo), worked on her bridal train, we also handled her hairstyle.  *Thanks ladies!* I am very glad she was thrilled and pleased at the hair and makeovers at the end of the day. She was indeed a glowing and simply beautiful bride.

Moni- the sweet angel

 

If I was given the privilege to give an award for the most  amiable  soul in Lagos, that award will go to none other than Moni. Truth be told, people like her are so rare but not non-existent though. Moni is unbelievably calm, respectful, friendly and very appreciative- she has got an incredibly angelic and sweet spirit altogether. what a fantastic model she will make!

In my opinion, A lady has got no beauty without character; true beauty is inside out and Moni has got just that!

 

Not to forget, I was introduced to Moni by her younger sister Lara... It was really very nice working with Moni. Her family and friends simply loved the makeup looks she owned that day and guess what? Long after her wedding, she still reaches out to me, she sends me goodwill messages and even prays for me... I have been touched by the angelic Moni.

 

So she had her engagement and church wedding all in one day and the ceremony was simply fantastic. Check out her pictures below.

Esther's Two times party look

 

 

Esther has been twice at my studio for party makeover and those two times were fun for me. She looked absolutely fabulous and was highly satisfied- She just kept on taking snapshots of her look (on both occasions) with her camera phone and just won't stop. Need I say more? Isn't Esther Looking Queenly?

Hello Glowing beauties, Its the 'ember' season and there are so many weddings this period, so do well to make your bookings with me if you are getting married any time soon and we will be there to make your wedding makeup paparazzi perfect!

Okay before I digress too far, I am dedicating this post to Esther one of my clients... We came in contact with each other sometime ago when she was in search of a makeup school. On that same day we met to discuss, I asked to know when she would love to commence makeup classes and then she replied that it would be after her wedding. Wedding? She has gotta be kidding me! Are you thinking what I was thinking? Lol. The very mention of the word 'wedding' struck a thought in me *winks*. Straightaway, I asked her if she had hired a makeup artist already but she replied 'No' and that is the summary of  how I got the job of handling her makeover hehehehe! The rest is history...

Her traditional wedding( the only one she did),  was held outside Lagos, precisely at Shagamu her home town. it was a perfect day, perfect weather and perfect wedding. Esther's makeover was on point! and fitting for a queen. I am so glad that her friends, family and most importantly she (Esther), loved it.

Facial Cleansers For Oily Skin

 

 

Have you ever finished talking on the phone ,pulled it away from your ear only to see that its covered in oil? If this is true, not to worry. Its normal and it happens to a lot of people, instead of feeling bad about it, get something to treat it. This post is in response to the question asked by one of my readers- Jennifer. Below, I have listed a few facial wash among the many others that are recommended for oily skin. Enjoy!

1.Olay combination\Oily Foaming Face wash

It is an oil-free and very gentle cleanser that helps wash away the impurities on the face by using foam action. It makes the skin feel very rejuvenated after use. It doesn't dry out your skin like many face washes do. Even after the first 2 days of use, you will notice a very visible difference in your skin.

2.Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

whether your skin is oily or not, this is a great cleanser to use. This cleanser is  a non-comedogenic which means it wont clog your pores. the cleanser is very gentle which means it is formulated not to irritate your skin. It has a pump so that you can dispense the right amount in your hands for your face, and it washes away oil, dirt and bacteria.

3.Glytone Exfoliating gel Wash form Oily Skin

its very effective. It has instructions on the package which is to be followed accordingly. It has a 4.7% concentration of glycolic acid to help get rid of oil on your skin. Its good for controlling breakouts and ensuring they are kept at bay .

4.Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub

This facial scrub should be used daily just as the name suggests, its that gentle . It is oil-free, it will help take away oil from the face and will help improve the tone of your skin and make it clearer and brighter- this will be possible because the scrub removes impurities that dull your complexion as you use it. Its also rich with soy extract which helps moisturize your skin.

5.Neutrogena Deep Clean Long Last Cleanser\Mask

This face wash will clear away 90% of oil that's built up on your skin. its made to mainly take away oil off your face so that you can no longer suffer from this .It helps control shine and will leave your face shine -free for hours and it won't dry your skin. its cleanses deep into your pores and not just on the surface.

6.Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit

This facial scrub is oil-free and has a fantastic smell.It gets deep into your pores to treat any breakout and blemishes that you may have and prevents any more from occurring .It as well keeps your skin clean and free from residue such as oil.

7.Jan Marini Bioglycolic Skin Cleansing Gel

It gives you a super clean skin. its recommended for skin with a very high level of oil. After one use, it will leave your skin feeling very soft and less oily. It has got a pump handle to ensure you get the right amount for your face.

 

8. Clarisonic Refreshing Foaming Gel

 This cleanser has a great pH- balance that will help clarify your skin. It contains bearberry extract that will help to promote a bight and even skin tone. It will also keep your protected from oil and other impurities.

9.Clean & clear deep action oil control Face Wash: It cleanses the skin effectively, helps in controlling oil without drying out the skin. It lathers well and it doesn't leave residue behind.

10. Clean & clear continuous control Acne Cleanser: This cleanser  is great for removing acne from your face as well oil. it gets deep into your pores to keep oil and dirt out. It is made of 10% benzoyl peroxide which is a main ingredient to keep your skin problem free.
